Brenda Rickman Vantrease burst onto the literary scene with her bestselling debut novel, The Illuminator, which was selected as a Book Sense Reading Group Pick and translated into 15 languages. The Nashville novelist’s sophomore release, The Mercy Seller, explores the life of another 15th century illuminator. When the authorities begin to burn books and slaughter heretics during a time of religious intolerance—including the man Bible illuminator Anna Bookman was to marry—she seeks sanctuary in England where a priest grants her a pardon for a fee. He then trails her to France where he expects to uncover heresy and instead begins to fall for the woman who makes him doubt his own vows. Vantrease discusses her new book at the Second Wednesday Book Club at Main Library.

I Walked the Line is a chronicle of first love, long-kept secrets, betrayal, forgiveness, and the truth--told at last by Johnny Cash's first wife, the mother of his four daughters. It is a book that had the full support of Johnny Cash, who insisted it was time for their story to be told, despite any painful revelations that might come to light as a result.

Many myths and contradictions regarding the life of Johnny and his family have been perpetuated for decades in film and literature. Vivian exposes previously untold stories involving Johnny's drug addiction, his fraught family life, and their divorce in 1968, as well as the truth behind the writing of two of Johnny's most famous songs, "I Walk the Line" and "Ring of Fire."

Supplemented by a never-before-published archive of love letters and family photos, I Walked the Line offers a deeper look at one of the most sig- nificant artists in music history. Here, fans and readers can experience the extraordinary account of love and heartbreak between Johnny and Vivian, and come to understand Vivian's dignified silence over the years. Through this elegant, revealing, and powerful memoir, Vivian Cash's voice is finally heard.

With her unmistakable voice and honest lyrics, Amy Grant has captured a unique place in American music. As the bestselling Christian music artist of all time, a crossover pop sensation, and the wife of country music star Vince Gill, Amy has lived much of her life in the spotlight, subject to adulation, speculation, and scrutiny.

Now for the first time, she bares her heart and soul to reveal thoughts on everything from motherhood and marriage to fame and forgiveness in her new memoir, Mosaic: Pieces of My Life So Far. Join Davis-Kidd for an evening of music, storytelling and questions and answers with Amy Grant.
