Voted “Best Festival” in the 2007 Nashville Scene Reader’s Poll, the 2008 Tomato Art Fest will be Saturday, August 9. Located in historic East Nashville’s Five Points area, which has been coined by Budget Travel Magazine as “Nashville’s version of New York’s East Village,” this FREE, costume-friendly event provides a fun-filled day for thousands.

Did you know in 2003 that the Tomato became the official fruit of Tennessee? It was the same year that the Tomato Art Festival began. The festival has steadily drawn larger crowds with each year that passes. Last year, an estimated 10,000 people came to celebrate this beloved fruit/vegetable and enjoy the day’s festivities. Some of the events that are scheduled for the festival are the second-line parade, children's carnivals, Bloody Mary competitions, recipe contests, the Tomato King and Queen pageant, music, YMCA East Nashville Tomato 5K, Faux Paw Fashion Show and more. This year's Tomato Art Fest t-shirt and website art is based on the work of the amazing Shelia B. Her art can be found in the collections of the Ryman Auditorium, the Tennessee State Museum, Pinnacle Financial, the Gaylord Opryland Hotel, and the Loveless Cafe.
