Comcast Cable proudly announces the 2008 Comcast Jeff Fisher & Friends Charity Softball Game Presented by Regions Bank. The charity softball game is set for Saturday, June 28 at 7:00pm at Greer Stadium. A portion of the proceeds, for this eighth annual event, will benefit Mercy Ministries, Second Harvest Food Bank, Soles4Souls and several other local charities.

With average attendance over 8,500 and with continued generous sponsor support, the game has raised over $300,000 to date. “The game is an opportunity for us to give back to the community as well as offering the fans a chance to see the players and coaches in a casual and fun environment,” says Jeff Fisher, whose record is 7-1 going into this year’s event. He adds, “The players also enjoy a night out competing with their teammates. The locker room ribbing goes on all year long.”

Bridgestone and Best One will host a dazzling fireworks display to cap off the evening. Gates will open at 5:00pm and parking is free. Early arrivals can watch pre-game activities such as an exhibition game played by the Little League Softball Clubs and the “Hit it Out of the Park” contest between the NFL Players.

Some past Friends have consisted of players from the Tennessee Titans such as: Vince Young, Steve McNair, Eddie George; Chris Borwn; Chris Hope; Frank Wycheck; Drew Bennett; Fred Miller, Brad Hopkins, Derrick Mason, Kevin Dyson, Kevin Carter, Craig Hentrich, Erron Kenney, and Keith Bulluck.

Mercy Ministries exists to transform the lives of girls struggling with life-controlling issues such as abuse, eating disorders, self-harm, chemical dependency and unplanned pregnancy by providing free care in an environment of unconditional love where mercy triumphs over judgment.
