Add Review/CommentA concert featuring Carol Ponder Songs and stories - traditional and contemporary - Guitar/Autoharp/Spoons - A-cappella ballads in the Southern Mountain tradition Carol Ponder is one of Tennessee's most cherished and respected traditional artists with a mountain heritage going back to when her ancestors arrived in the Appalachian mountains of Western NC in the late 1700s. She brings her deep connection to the mountains to her audiences through music and storytelling. The emphasis in songs is on a- cappella singing, with some accompaniment on guitar, spoons and autoharp and background stories on the songs. By performing both old and new songs and stories, she invites her 21st Century audiences to enter into, then to extend, the traditions for themselves.
